January 2020 Newsletter

Welcome back to everyone for another enjoyable year of Square Dancing in 2020.

Learners commences Tuesday 4th February 2020 and Mainstream/Plus commences Friday 7th February 2020.

The Free Christmas Dance had great atmosphere and the Break-up was enjoyed by all including learners.  It was good to see that new Learners attended at least one of these dances.

Marilyn has made up a new Supper Roster and it is pleasing to see more members becoming involved in this part of the Club activities.

Our Hall Rent has been increased to $10.00 per hour.  We will observe the outcome until our AGM in May.

CLUB BIRTHDAY – 13TH MARCH – Black and Green Theme

The Celebration will be with a sit-down dinner at the Rum City Band Hall.  Please add your name and preference for either a main or sweet contribution to the meal.
We will set-up at 5.30pm and eat at 6.00pm.
All members are requested to take their own plates, cutlery and bread if required.
Dancing will commence at 7.00pm.  There will be no Raffle.

Alan Wrights Family have requested a Square Dance celebration for Alan's 90th Birthday on
31st July with family members and children attending.  More news will be available at a later date.

HERVEY BAY CONVENTION – September

Matthew wants to focus on learners to bring them up to a comfortable level before the Convention.  It is a great experience for new members to attend a Square Dance Convention.
Matthew will approach learning members giving them the option to fast track learning
in a special class – maybe a weekend.

Jo Read has added more sewing patterns to the club website blog under Resources.

If we have enough interest in running a sewing bee prior to the 2020 Event dances, we should be able to get a number of people to gather with sewing machines to share patterns and skills.

If you don't already have a copy of the new Club Calendar of Events for this year please request one from Jo Kronk or go to our website blog at https://canecountrysquares.blogspot.com/

Our Club is looking for an Auditor for our records. If you know of anyone who might be interested please contact one of the committee. Our year ends 31st March and books need to be audited and returned in time for our AGM 29th May.

Jo Read has put a lot of effort into making our Club website and blogspot more interactive and now she has set up new Digital Storage for use by the Committee for Reports etc.  Thanks Jo

Happy Dancing - From your Committee Matthew, Jo Kronk. Jo Read, Jo Lester, Marilyn & Pam
