2024 end of year celebrations

The wrap up to the end of our 2024 dance year has come quickly.

We had a lovely afternoon tea social at Sandy's place on Sunday 3rd of November, with lots of dancers attending, just to share some good food and company. Some none dancing spouses also came along to join in with the social side of our club.

On the 16th of November we had our SSD graduation dance with certificates going to Adrian, Laura, Mia, Trevor, Di, Cinnamon and Karen with Colleen being presented her certificate the following week.

We had a great night of dancing and a special treat of orange juice and cupcakes for supper.

Next year will see the Full SSD dancers with their own dance brackets, alternated with the new learners. Our experienced dancers, that have been attending Tuesday nights for years, will continue to help with the learners and be rewarded with the fun of dancing the full program on the same night. To fit both brackets in, dancing will now start at 6pm. The first night back is the 4th of February 2025.

The SSD group had their break up night on the 3rd of December. We had a special Christmas supper and the Christmas selfie frame came out for the first time this year.

Friday 6th of December was our annual free Christmas Dance for all levels up to Plus. This year we first met up for a meal at the Melbourne Hotel with 28 people attending with one apology. It was good to see some people attending that haven't been able to dance with us in a while.
After our meal, those that planned to dance or just watch the festivities, and get some raffle tickets, walked back across to the hall.

The amount of Christmas hamper packs was impressive, with two tickets being drawn in each dance session break. The kids took turns drawing the tickets with a jest about the lack of orange tickets being drawn coming from Anita. Sandy read us two Christmas poems. One with a humours Santa story and the final one having a lovely message for the holiday season. The last prize of the night was the lucky spot prize going to Sandy.

It is always great to see two squares on the floor, with more than enough to keep two squares going right to the end of the night. Of course, lots dressed in Christmas theme outfits and Matt called to plenty of Christmas songs. Even though we started the night with a meal together, we still also had a supper with lots of sweet treats.

2024 was a fun year and we look forward to even more in 2025. Just after we start back in February, we will be attending the Move It Expo on the 16th, to promote the new learners class starting on the 18th of February 2025. You can download a flyer to send to anyone you think would enjoy dancing with us here.
